Hope Walks Here. Again.

Last Sunday, I had the chance to join students at SUNY Geneseo, the Livingston County Suicide Prevention Task Force and community members in support of SUNY Geneseo Sisters Making a Change and the Western NY chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at the Out of the Darkness Campus Walk. Together, we raised over $4,000 for the AFSP to fund research, advocacy, and education. We also raised awareness about mental health and suicide risks and brought hope to local communities. Suicide is the 11th leading cause of death in the United States, according to the CDC. This is my 7th year participating in this wonderful event. Not only have we helped bring hope and support to SUNY Geneseo students, but we’ve also made connections with community members. This year, I was excited to bring Pippin, my five and a half-month-old bernedoodle, along. Pippin passed the AKC STAR Puppy class and we hope will become a certified therapy dog so he can join me at work and community events like this.
